Kinkel surprise once more
German Foreign minister Klaus Kinkel said full membership talks with Turkey can't be started, because the Northern Cyprus has been under Turkish invasion for years, which is something that violates the Law of Nations

German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel said it is not time to start full membership talks with Turkey and added that turkey can't be regarded as the same with the other European Union applicants.
In his report for the daily Frankfurter Runschau, Klaus Kinkel was reported as saying, "Full membership talks with Turkey can't be started now, because Northern Cyprus has been under Turkish invasion for years, which means violation of Law of Nations. Meanwhile, Kurdish issue, violation of human rights, economical problems and especially Turkey's relation with Greece avoids Turkey being regarded as the same with the other applicants."
Cyprus is an impediment before the EU enlargement process, Mr. kinkel said adding that Greece insits on full membership to Cyprus as Turkey doesn't let the Northern Cyprus to attend the full membership talks.
The German Minister said, "Cyprus' full membership to the EU as a divided island will be very difficult."
