AKP, Erdoğan receive many times more airtimes than opposition
Istanbul, Oct 27 (DHA) - Turkish President Erdoğan and the Justice and Development Party have been given the longest airtimes in the last 25 days, in run up to Nov. 1 elections, announced the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) member Ersin Öngel, via Twitter.
The airtimes for different parties and leaders, on 12 TV channels including the state-run TRT, were released as follows:
Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdoğan had 138 hours and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) had 238 hours allocated for pre-elective broadcast on TV.
The Republican People’s Party (CHP) was given 36 hours of airtime, while the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) was given 21 hours, in total, in the same period.
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), on the other hand, merely had six hours to air, within pre-election broadcasts, in the last 25 days.
Airtimes on state-run TRT channel
According to airtimes on the state-run TRT TV channel, President Erdoğan and the AKP were given a significantly longer amount of time to air, as AKP had 30 hours and Erdoğan had 29 hours of "apparition", in the same period.
While the Republican People’s Party (CHP) was given five hours of airtime, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) had 1 hour 10 minutes in total.
HDP was given 18 minutes, in 25 days, according to Öngel’s announcement.
