Ankara is not warm

Ankara is cold towards a land strike in Kosova. At this stage a land strike is only a speculation and Ankara avoids making an official decleration with the grounds that this alternative is not on the agenda of NATO. While it is observed that Turkey is cold towards a land operation, it is also stated that the government's approach towards the issue may be different than the evaluations of bureaucrats. Sources state that a possibility of a land operation is not realistic and make the following evaluation:
" According to a work done by NATO a year ago, a force of 200 thousand people is needed for a land strike. This is a big number. Such a strike can be realized only with USA's participation. Europe can not do it alone. A land strike requires a serious political decision. However there is a political will in the West. Some allies within NATO are even distant towards airstrikes."
Stating that a land strike would make things more difficult than they already are, authorities point that a land strike would have negative reflections from a political angle. Sources state that a land strike would break Yugoslavia in pieces and add that the negative effects of this would not only stay within Balkans.
