Debates on 312th article

       A possible change in the 312th article of the Turkish Civil Code, a change that may open the way for Erbakan to be in active politics again, has created debate between the Virtue Party (FP) and the government partners. While Beyhan Aslan from ANAP stated that they refuse changes for individuals, she stated that she believed this article should be discussed after the amendments for the presidebcy elections are completed. MHP on the other hand is not very supportive of amending this article. MHP will play a key role in the amendment process. FP on the other hand wants the amendment of he 312th article to be done with the amendment of the 101th article, the one abour presidential elections. The government is very troubled by FP's aproach of bargain, and does not want to put this article on the agenda for now. One official from the democratoc leftis Party (DSP) stated that the 312th article would be discussed after the presidency elections were over.
