On a death penalty ordered for Abdullah Ocalan, the Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said, "The parliament has the authority not the government."
None of the government partners would want to harm the hopeful and stable atmosphere in the country, he added.
"The most urgent problem at the moment is the demand of the European Court of Human Rights, which we are also a member of. It is a national requirement to obey this demand. It is certain that we would have a serious problem in the international platform."
Ecevit reminded that if Turkey gives a positive answer to the European Court, the death penalty against Ocalan would not be cancelled but only posponed. Stressing that the government tries to made the country's way to peace through a sensitive bridge Ecevit said, "I think the government partners will make their best to preserve the balances of this brigde."
On a question by the press Ecevit said, "Mr. Bahceli also believes that the leaders summit would end with an agreement. I follow his statements with pleasure."
