Erbakan: I can be elected as independent

Former leader of the banned Welfare Party Necmettin Erbakan criticised Turkey in a Quatar tv channel El Cezire.
He claimed the decision that politically banned him would not be approved in the European Court of Human Rights and there is no handicap that would prevent him to be elected as an independent deputy in the Parliament.
Erbakan said because of some certain laws in Turkey, people can not express themselves freely. It is not acceptable to ban headscarf in a country where nearly 99 percent of its people are Muslim, he added.
The court decision against him is infact political and has no legal base, he said. "We brought a suit in Strasbourg. I'm sure the European Court of Human Rights will remove this ban," he added.
