Positive outlook from the Higher Board of Planning. State Minister Isin Celebi: "No deviation from the target of reducing the inlation to 50% by the year end"

The government decided on the second three - month target for the anti - inflationary efforts. After the Wednesday meeting of the Higher Board of Planning, headed by Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, a statement was released by minister Isin Celebi. He said the government is insistant on the target of 50% inflation by the year end.
Mr. Celebi said they have hit the anti - inflationary target in the first three months supporting his remarks with the 567 trillion budget deficit in January - February period, below the projected level of 682 trillion. He stressed that the 1998 programme works well, thus they will be able to take good rebults.
"This programme will succeed and Turkey won't go to ballot boxes in 1998. The success of the anti - inflationary struggle will rule out the talks of early election" the State Minister was quoted as saying.
Mr. Celebi also said: A healthy cooling period has been launched in the economy field. We will continue exercising the monetary programme which will back up the cooling. There is no daviation from the 50% inflation rate by the year end. The budget deficit for the second three - month term is 1.2 quadrillion liras. Our performances are above the determined targets.
