“It is true that we had a talk with Israel. Ties will be restored soon,” a senior Foreign Ministry official said. An apology for the 2010 Mavi Marmara massacre of Turkish activists by Israeli forces, compensation for the victims' families and an end to the blockade of the Gaza Strip are the three preconditions to normalise relations. According to a source talking to Reuters, Israeli and Turkish officials have reached a preliminary agreement to normalise relations, including the return of ambassadors to both countries.
