A letter sent to Republican People's Party (CHP) leader altan oymen by
the PKK 7th congress stated that CHP is the basis of the move to
democratisation in Turkey and said, "Democratic and peaceful solution to
Kurdish problem would open Turkey's way. The problem is neither a Turkish or
Kurdish problem, but a problem of Turkey."
The letter dated 20th of January, defended that Turkish democracy would get
stronger by a cooperation among CHP, People's Democracy Party (HADEP) and
Freedom and Solidarity Party (ODP) and said:
"Only such a determination would take the required steps on the road to the
European Union. To establish a democratic Turkey, is both for the benefit of
the public and the most important service in the memory of democrats like
Ahmet Taner Kislali and Ugur Mumcu. Oymen stayed in the same prison with
Abdullah Ocalan in 1972. Our President appreciates Oymen in his memories."
In a seven paged peace project sent by the letter an extended Consitutional
reform is suggested as well. The letter said Ocalan should not be executed
and the freedom of the leader of the terrorist organisation identifies with
the freedom of Kurdish people."
