Mr. Ecevit: We reached agreement

Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit announced that a consensus was reached on public collective bargains. "We reached an agreement on providing satisfactory facilities for state - workers" he was quoted as saying.
According to reports, the government proposed Turk - Is (workers' union) a pay hike of 30% plus 15 million in advance for the first six months of the year. The government officials also promised 5% wage hike for second, third and the fourth halves besides increasing salaries in parallel to inflation rates. If Turk - Is accepts the offer, workers' brut wages will be boosted from 164 million liras to 228 million in.
Mr. Ecevit held a one - hour meeting with Turk - Is leader Bayram Meral at the premiership house. Finance Minister Nami Cagan, Labour and Social Security Minister Hakan Tartan and State Minister Sukru Sina Gurel were also present at the meeting. Mr. Ecevit told that there are no more obstacles to collective bargain. "I hope that collective bargains will prove good to workers.
