Oppression on the Turks in Western Thrace

Members of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace have been subject to discriminative violence in two separate events this week. It has been reported that, in Gokcepınar, a village of Iskece, Greek soldiers have attacked Turkish villagers. In another incident in the Iskece Department of Police, a Turkish couple has been battered and sexually abused.
The Iskece Department of Police has denied that the couple has been abused, while confirming the incident in Gokcepınar. The incident erupted because of a dispute between three Greek soldiers and Turkish villagers in a cafe. It is said that after leaving the cafe, the soldiers returned to the village with a bigger group, including one Captain. In the conflict between Turkish villagers and Greek soldiers, persons from both parties have been injured. It is reported that the villagers intend to file a complaint to the Ministry of Defence.
