President Erdogan criticises opposition leader over his ‘blood’ remarks

Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticised the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu during his speech at the 9th International Student Gathering in Istanbul.

Erdogan: “He alleges that we are feeding on blood. However, they are the ones who are feeding on blood. They set the stage for the execution of former Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and two friends of his in 1960.”

Kilicdaroglu said on May 14 that the presidential system proposed by the ruling Justice and Development Party (Ak Party) could not be realised without spilling blood. The CHP leader also accused Erdogan of feeding on blood.
