Demirel: I have been misunderstood. Yilmaz: The Stat does not have the luxury of acting against the laws

President Suleyman Demirel's words that the State can go beyond routine, has created diferent reactions. Upon the question of what he thinks of the reaction the Turkish Body of Lawyers has given to his words, Mr Demirel said, " I do not know what they have said. However my statement had two more important sentences than the one that has been so talked about. I had stated that the State could go beyond the routine as long as it is within the frames of laws. My words should not be evaluated without having read the rest of my statement." The Turkish Body of Lawyers had likened mr.Demirel's words to what Turgut Ozal had said years ago, " Laws can be vilated for once". When Mr.Demirel was reminded this, he said; " What I say is nothing like this. People should be more creful in trying to understand what I have to say."

Yilmaz: Laws can't be violated

ANAP General Chairman Mesut Yilmaz has also reacted to Mr.Demirel's words stating that the State in no way has the luxury to act against the laws of this country. Adding that the word "routine" should be made more clear, Yilmaz said, " The State and all institutions representing the State, the government, have to obey the laws no matter what."
