Sivas Massacre sent to appeal

       The legal process launched after the murders of 37 intellectuals in Sivas, hasn't completed yet. The death penalty decision given for the 33 convicts, still waits for appeal after four years.
       In the first step of the appeal talks, the decisions about the 11 convicts will be discussed in the Supreme Court General Board for Penalty.
       The legal process for the Sivas massacre, has started with three different suits brought in Kayseri State Security Court and Sivas Penalty Courts. The trials later on brought to Ankara, because of security. Ankara Penalty Courts sent the files to Ankara State Security Court. Thi files in three different courts brought together and sent to Ankara State Security Court as a single file. The very first decision of the judges was to imprison 26 of the criminal for 20 years. The court decreased the penalty to 15 years, considering Aziz Nesin as an inciting aspect.
       After the recent judgement, the State Security Court decided death penalty for 33 of the criminals. The Court's decision is also appealed in the Supreme Court.
