Thanks to Russia

       Ismail Cem, Minister of Foreign Affairs, evaluated the arrest of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan as a crucial step in the fight against terror.
       Making a declaration after receiving Alexander Lebedev, Russia's Ambassador to Russia, Cem said, " We thanked for Russia's constructive approach and stated the importance of Russia's sensitivity about this incident that could have damaged our close economic and political relations. Around the same time we were informed that Ocalan had been arrested in Rome.
       Ocalan has been caught within the frame of Turkey and Germany's arrest bulletin the Interpol had published with a passport issued to Abdullah Sarıkurt. It is interesting that the National Intelligence Agency(MIT) had brought us the information on October 12th, that this passport could be used by the terror organization's leader. We had made an investigation upon this information and learned that this passport belongs to one of our citizens working in Germany."
       Reminding that there is not an agreement between Turkey and Italy about extradition of criminals, Cem added:
       " However there are two agreements that both Turkey and Italy are sides of. One of them is the agreement about extradition of criminals signed within the frame of the European Council. The second agreement within the frame of the European Council is on the fight against terror. This explains the extradition of terror criminals. Our Ambassador to Rome is in contact with the Italian Foreign Affairs Ministry within the frame of this agreement."
       " Italy should extradiate Ocalan. Everything will be done for them to do so." said Cem upon questions whether Italy would extradiate Ocalan or not.
