Tourism income declines by 6.6 pct. in nine

Tourism income declines by 6.6 pct. in nine months

Istanbul, Oct 30 (DHA) – Turkey’s tourism income fell by 6.6 percent in the first nine months of the year, over decline in visits due to security concerns.

According to data release by Turkstat, tourism income having seen 26.64 billion dollars in the first nine months of 2014 declined to 24.89 billion dollars, in the same period of this year.

The Tursktat data shows tourism income fell by 4.4 percent to 12.3 billion dollars, in the third quarter, which is July, August and September months of 2015.

While 80.9 percent of this income (excluding GSM roaming and marina service expenditures) stemmed from foreign visitors, 19.1 percent was obtained from citizens residing abroad.

In this quarter number of departing visitors increased by 1.9 percent, compared to same quarter of previous year, to 17 million persons. While 84.8 percent of visitors was foreigners, 15.2 percent of them was Turkish citizens residing abroad.
