Civil upheaval which started after the eartquake continues. Non - governmental organisations initiated a black ribbon campaign

Non - governmental organisations initiated a black ribbon campaign to remind people the sufferings of the catastrophe after the earthquake and to show the determination of Turkish citizens to recover. NGOs also decided to react against the government's decision to collect all aid in one hand.
The campaign in which Citizens Initiation and Autonomous Art Council Initiation acted jointly, started in the Marmara Hotel yesterday.
The member of the co-ordination board Rutkay Aziz made a call to all citizens. Mr. Aziz defended that while people are trying to recover, Ankara rejects the international aid for racist reasons.
"We want the funds for earthquake and their use to be transparent. Our pain is deep. However, as we become conscious of our pain, we will tie our black ribbons and show our reaction," he said.
Contemporary Education Society Chairperson Gulsever Yasar said, they focused all their efforts to the earthquake region but their bank accounts are seized by the state officials. "We shall come over with this situation. The international community wants the NGOs to aid the earthquake victims, but such an application would prevent this aid," she said.
