Turkey opens 39th embassy in Africa

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan is on a four-day east African tour and arrived Somalia, the last leg of the tour, on June 3.

Somali government officials welcomed Erdogan and the delegation at an airport.

Erdogan opened the largest Turkish embassy in the world in the Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. Erdogan stated Turkey has 39 embassies in Africa, compared with twenty in 2003. Erdogan promised to boost economic ties between East Africa and Turkey, and help bring peace in the region.
