It has been reported that US President Clinton's special representator Holbrooke has prepared an agreement in order to ease the tension in Agean and will request the parts to sign it

It has been stated that US President Clinton's Cyprus special representator Richard Holbrooke has offered a "Turkish-Greek Agreement" that will ease the tension between Ankara and Athens. Ankara looks positive to the agreement which bids "good neighbourhood relations between the two countries where Greek manner is not clear yet, since there is a conflict between the Greek Prime Minister Kostas Simitis and Foreign Minister Teodoros Pangolos.
The Greek "ToVima" claims that while the Greek Prime Minister prefers a non-aggression agreement, Turkish part wants a broader negotiation which calls for "good relations, friendship and cooperation" between the two countries.
The newspaper evaluated the article that requested the Madrid Accord to be more clear in the "goodwill note" sent by Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem to Athens as a sign that proves the rather positive manner of Ankara towards a possible agreement.
According to the newspaper, Washington is still checking the aims of the both parts by Richard Holbrooke's contacts in the two countries for the offer it hasn't declared officially yet.
