Vatican denies Turkish criticism on “genocide”

The Vatican refuted Turkey’s claims that Pope Francis had a “Crusader mentality” after using the word “genocide” to describe the events of 1915 in the World War I.
“The pope is not doing Crusades. He is not trying to organise wars or build walls but he wants to build bridges,” Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi told reporters. “He has said no words against the Turkish people.”
