We believe in the future of the Eastern Anatolia

       One of the most important problems of the Southeastern Anatolia lies in the banking sector. Especially since the date when terrorist activities emerged in the region, banks stopped opening branches in the region and started the already open ones. They also began not to give out loans to people there; moreover they took a stance as not to accept mortgages there. But there were a few banks which tried to resist this difficult situation.
       Now the process is getting reversed. However, in terms of giving out loans and opening new branches, banks now approach the region the way they do to cities in the Western part of the country. One of the leading banks in this trend is the Yapi Kredi Bankasi.
       Burhan Karacam, the director general of the bank, defines the Southeast as the region which he visited the most in a year's time, exposing the importance they give to the region. In these visits he meets the businesspeople in the region and presents them some projects in line with their wishes. Mr. Karacam and his team will pay a visit to Diyarbakir again on Monday for a similar meeting.
       "The region, primarily Diyarbakir will be the most developing place in three to five years in terms of trade. You already understand this when you visit the region. The historical importance of the region as a trade center will be provided again" he was quoted as saying.
