Information regarding the Portrait Competition entitled "Atatürk on the 75th Anniversary of the Republic" The International Herald Tribune and Milliyet are supporting a portrait painting competition to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic The portraits that have won the first, second, and third prizes will be sold in en auction organised by the Kenan Evren Foundation for Education, Culture and Protection of the Environment. The prizes will be presented to the artists by seventh President of Turkey, Mr Kenan Evren. The Kenan Evren Foundation will then come to an agreement with the winners to reproduce and sell a signed copy of their work The artists will receive a percentage of the proceeds from the sale according to international norms. Postcards and stamps will also be produced for the occasion. After the initial selection, the chosen portraits will be printed in colour in Milliyet and on the newspaper's website Closing date for the competition: 1st October 1998 1st Prize................US$15.000 2nd Prize...............US$10.000 3rd Prize..............US$5.000 Dimensions...............50x73cm or 54x73cm Portraits should be submitted in oils.
