The Chairman of the General Staff, Full General Ismail Hakkı Karadayı had a meeting with the Head of State of Egypt Husnu Mubarek yesterday. Karadayı has said, "I believe that the relationship between our countries will contribute to the peace within the region and of the world."
In the meeting which took one hour at the Palace of State, Karadayı has said "I have brought you our President's greetings." In the declaration he made after the meeting Karadayı has said the following:
"We have seen that we can cooperate in achieving stability in the region and continuing the status qou including the combat against terrorism and that we even can take further steps. We have consented on this. Turkey and Egypt are two Muslim and democratic sister countries that are connected to each other with historical and cultural ties in East Mediterranean and the Middle East. I have achieved to very efficient results during my visit. I believe in the benefits of speaking face to face with frankness. We have consented on more military contacts without leaving room for misunderstandings and intentional channelizations and and on providing dialogs. Future generations should not blame us. We should do what is necessary on our part and have the two sister countries get closer."
