As Turkey retouches the foreign policy strategy that will be exercised in the following years the main target is now determined as a continuing export increase and to become "localized" in the new markets.
Foreign Trade Undersecretary Yavuz Ege announced the principles of the new strategy of foreign policy, "the efforts on targeted sectors and markets and sectoral priorities to post higher increases, have come to the peak point. We in fact think that a foregin trade institute should be founded to conduct healthieh efforts. But this is a subject of law. Thus it at the same time will act as think - tank. It will make researches and teach. We have come to an end with the preparation of a draft law for founding the foreign trade institutes.
Mr. Ege also said: "Turkey should do whatever it can with any countries. The country must not be a prisoner to this or that block. But on the other hand we have been targeting the West - the EU and the U.S. markets - the greatest and the most consuming markets. Tukey has to open into other markets. It can never ignore the Asian market, China and India. The market of the future will be South Korea and Indonesia which are now going through turmoil. Also some circles in China and Indonesia have a great potantiel of purchasing pover. Turkey must be involved in this."
