Public prepares to sacrifice lira

Turkish lira melts down against inflation day by day. Declaration of price in terms of dollars, something that has been conducted by the private sector for years expands in to the public institutions as well. While the Asian countries in turmoil try to prevent their national currencies, Turkey is increasingly "dollarised"

Unavoidable fall of the Turkish lira caused some moves also in the public sector after the private. While people in the Far Eastern tigers such as South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand in turmoil start battles against the dollar and conduct companies in an effort to protect their national currencies, public institutions has started to push the lira to the backstage after the private sector.
Eregli Demir Celik Factories (Iron and steel) for the first time in its history started to determine the prices in terms of dollars due to the heavy demands from the customers. Dollar was adopted as the main currency basis for its products yesterday leaving the lira aside. When asked "Why did you chose this way?" , Erdemir Vice President Murtez Tulukoglu says "We always had to change the prices as the dollar increases against the lira. On the demands from the customers we shifted to the dollar. Today, the first day of the practice we received positive comments. Prices are in dollars but we will go on with conducting sales again in terms of Turkish Liras."
