A new wind of hope is blowing in Ceyhan nowadays. The planned Baku - Ceyhan pipeline route to carry the Caspian Oil, may turn the region into a center of oil. 60 million tonnes of oil will be flown into the region and it will be carried to the world markets through plants that will be constructed in Ceyhan. given that the Iraq oil is exported from yumurtalik plants, a big movement of development will start in Ceyhan and adana regions.
Adana Mayor Aytac Durak reminded that Botas and Toros fertilizer factories were built here as the Iraq pipeline reached the region. "If the Baku - Ceyhan pipeline is also constructed, Adana region will become one of the largest ports" he was quoted as saying. The Mayor Aytac Durak also pointed that goods produced in Anatolia and the Southeast Anatolia Project region, will be exported the world from here.
Mr. Durak also sent a warning underlining that tax incomes created in Adana flows out of the region because the headquarters of the local companies are either in Istanbul and Ankara.
