Ciller in the grip

The Ministry of Finance presented Prime minister Mesut Yilmaz with new documents concerning tax evasion by the Ciller family.

After asking his members of parliament not to grapple with the True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller, Prime Minister Mesut Yılmaz is preparing to hit Ciller with her "property and assets". It was pointed out that Ministry of Finance had presented Yılmaz, who said, "She knows what's coming, just don't grapple with her" to his members of parliament with new documents concernin tax evasion by the Ciller family.
While it has become decisive that the 925000 dollars the Ciller family trasfered from Turkey to pay for the property bought in the U.S. was not registered with the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, it is alleged that the document claimed to be at the Treasury is fake. One other allegation in the investigation proposal that will be given in Feburary is that the Ciller family had laundered black money when buying property in the U.S. Leaders of the Motherland Party (ANAP) stated that between 1991, the year Ciller went into active politics, and 1995, when she served as State Minister and Prime Minister, her property and assets had increased by 98 billion liras. The ANAP leaders claimed that the property and assets in question could not be attained with a MoP salary and said, "Since these purchases have been certified the Ciller family is obliged to state their origin."
