Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Unions (DISK) prepares workers for election

       DISK Director General Ridvan Budak said there is great responsibility on democratic civilian organizations over changing the present understanding and type of policy. He stressed that workers should intervene in politics with the conscience of a citizen who is a tax payer, producer and who wants someone to account for. Thus, he says, an eductional mobilization for concscience voters has has been started in Adana which later will expand into all places where DISK is organized. He made the following statement for the new move:
       "There is a stalemate in the current understanding of politics and traditional politician stereotype. We must act with citizenship consciousness to fight with problems such as unemployment, high inflation, injustices in tax related issues, and low quality in educetion and healthcare, which all overwhelm the society. Just complaining is not enough. We must intervene in politics. Democratic institutions should somehow stimulate their own masses. We wandered around all factories of Bossa, Cukobirlik, Teksa and other plants. Workers may adopt the ideas of various political parties. But the workers - whatever political wing they support - should press for reducing of the inflation, bringing justice in tax payments and fight for high quality education and health care institutions as a citizen."
