Cypriot businessman Asil Nadir set free in Turkey

Nadir jailed for 10 years in 2012 for stealing 29 million pounds from his business empire Polly Peck -one of the most successful textiles company in the UK in the 1980s– and its shareholders.

Authorities in Britain accepted his request to serve the rest of his sentence in Turkey and Nadir came to Istanbul on April 21. He was escorted to a police station at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. He was freed after spending one night in prison in Istanbul.
