Gladiator writer David Franzoni will work on a biopic and wants Leonardo DiCaprio to play the 13th-century poet Jalaluddin al-Rumi in the film.
Franzoni and the producer Stephen Joel Brown also want Robert Downey Jr to play as Shams of Tabriz.

Franzoni and Brown were in Istanbul last week to meet with Rumi experts. They said they wanted to challenge Muslim stereotypes in western cinema.
