Extradition file drawn back

Upon the official announcement that Abdullah Ocalan has been arrested, Ministry of Justice has drawn back the file of Ocalan's extradition demand and announced that the demand of extradition was renounced.
The Ministry also asked the Interpol Chairmanship to remove the red bullletin about Ocalan.
After Ocalan's arrest in Rome Airport in November 1998, Turkey had given a file for Ocalan's extradition to the Italian Ministry of Justice. However the Italian Ministry of Justice had not considered Turkey's demand, as death penalty was applicated in Turkey. When Germany also had not asked for Ocalan's extradition, Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema had announced that Ocalan was a 'free person'. The indefiniteness over where Ocalan was after he had left Italy, had blocked the way for an official demand of extradition.
