Turkey has started the countdown for the nuclear central. However this
has also started some discussions. Quake experts are worried about Akkuyu.
Prof.Dr. Jean Pierre Bardet who attended the international earthquake
conference said the depth and the activities of the fault line needs to be
measured for the nuclear central planned to be made in Akkuyu. Bardet who is
the founder of an important laboratory in California that works on dynamics
of the earth's ground said the following about the industrial structural
work at the fault line:
" I oppose that an industrial structure is being constructed close to a
fault line. It can be done only if the fault line is not very big and when
the conditions force you to. Establishing a nuclear central needs extra
carefullness. The building should be a lot stronger. Such a structure
on a fault line has a lot of risks. If it really needs to be built, then the
depth of the fault line needs to be measured beforehand. However I am still
strongly against the doing of this."
