FP surrenders to Erbakan

Politically banned Necmettin Erbakan, forced FP members to vote in favor of postponing the elections. Recai Kutan, leader of FP, who only a few days ago said that they would oppose to postponing the elections yesterday said that they would support the motion that suggests the elections to be postponed. FP administration also took a binding group decision to guarantee that all members will vote in favor of postponing the elections.
Kutan who gave a speech to the group with the orders of Erbakan said, "There is no meaning in holding elections without altering the 312th article. Since there is no time for the package of democraticization to be passed, we feel that we should first support postponing the elections."

FP is confused

The attempt of the disgruntled deputies to postpone the elections along with DTP General Chairman Husamettin Cindoruk and Necmettin Erbakan, has confused the Virtue Party(FP). Erbakan's order to "postpone elections" has caused severe discussions within the Chairmanship Council that had an unscheduled meeting yesterday. Deputy General Chairman Cemil Cicek, who is on the reformist wing of the party said, "Voting in favor of postponing elections will cost us a lot. Erbakan's approach wears our party out. We may be perceived as the continuation of the Welfare Party(RP)"
Manisa Deputy Bulent Arınc who also spoke in the meeting, criticised the fact that FP keeps changing stance and said, "How will we explain the nation that we want the elections to be postponed ? We say just the oppossite of what we had said yesterday. How will we face the nation? "
One of Erbakan's close officials Suleyman Arif Emre on the other hand said, " There is no meaning in holding elections before altering the 312th article. Do what should be done"
