The Board of Ministers met yesterday with the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz. It has been reported that the Board approved the things Baykal and Yilmaz agreed on, in their meeting- the suggestion that the general election and the local elections be held together on April 18th 1999.
The Government Spokesperson, Ahmet Andiçan made a declaration after the 1,5 hour meeting saying, "Mr. Yilmaz has given information about the meeting he had with Mr.Baykal. The Ministers have also articulated their opinions. The package of decisions Mr.Baykal and Prime
Minister agreed on, is a package that will be applicated."
To the question, "Will the Prime Minister hold a summit with the coalition partners?" Andican gave the following answer, "Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit is in China. I believe that Mr.Yilmaz will be exchanging ideas with the leaders as he always does, discussing the recent political developments. However I do not have an idea when that may be."
While Mr.Ecevit did not attend the Board's meeting because he is in China, State Ministers Sukru Sina Gurel, Yucel Seckiner, Gunes Taner, Isın Celebi, Murat Baseskioglu, Istemihan Talay, Ersin Taranoglu and Ismail Cem also could not attend the meeting.
