Istanbul, a quiet megapol

According to a book prepared by Istanbul Governorship concerning the city data of the last year, Istanbul which is larger than 117 countries in terms of density of population and geographical position seems to be more quite a city than other megapols.
120,386 events took place in Istanbul, which houses an 15% of the overall population of Turkey. The events were related with security, terror, traffic and smuggling. The number of such events in big foreign cities are as follows: Paris: 276,000, Berlin: 594,393, Vienne: 161,917, Rome: 214,465, Madrid: 129,486 and Tokyo: 248,815. Which shows that Istanbul is a relatively quiet city.
According to the book, the Istanbul police operations as of July 25, 1997 are as follows:
560 suspects were taken into custody in police raids especially to central committees of terrorist organizations. More than three metric tonnes of various drugs were seized. 520 suspects were caught and punished. 2,243 suspects were caught for crimes related to financial affairs and sent to courts. Security - related events fell by 10%.
