Justice Minister admits

Minister Turk has admitted that Pascal was indeed an attorney and not a clerk as the Ministry had claimed earlier.
The feature in Milliyet's Dec. 22 edition on the Cakici affair stated that Attorney Pascal of the Aix en Province Court in France had announced that there were no conditions to prevent the trial of Cakici in Turkey and that the authority rested solely on Turkish juridical authorities.
However, the statement issued by the Justice Ministry had denied that Jean Francois Pascal was an attorney and claimed him to be a clerk at the Aix en Province Court of France. The Ministry cited the Turkish embassy in France as the source of this information.
The Ambassador of Paris on the other hand said they had never been questioned about the identity of Pascal, either by the Ministry or any other Turkish authority.
