       The high rank commanders of Turkish armed Forces met in the General
       Staff Headquarters one hour before the first raund of the presidential
       elections which was broadcasted live on tv.
       The news immediately reflected into the Parliament lobby as well. General
       Staff Commander Huseyin Kivrikoglu, the Land Force Commander Atilla Ates,
       the Air Force Commander Ergin Celasin, the Navy Commander İlhami Erdil,
       Commander of Gendarme Forces Rasim Betir, Secretary General of the National
       Security Board Cumhur Asparuk learnt the results of the first raund at 2
       p.m. on the television as the General Staff meeting started.
       The commanders who pointed out that the National Security Board meeting to
       be held in the Presidential Palace today is an "ordinary" one, had
       previously reported that Turkish Armed Forces has a concern for the
       elections.

Demirel will bid farewell

       President Suleyman Demirel, whose term in office will end in May, 16,
       will head the National Security Board for the last time. As Demirel will
       give a farewell speech, Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and Commander
       Kivrikoglu are also expected to give speech.
