One in three marriages involve children in Turkey, announced on Universal Childrens Day

Felat Bozarslan / Diyarbakır, Nov 20 (DHA) – In Turkey, one in three marriages involve children according to Turkstat, said Diyarbakır Bar Children’s Rights Center, on Nov. 20 marking the Universal Children’s Day.

"The violation of children’s rights escalates, while number of children laborers exploited in every means, children exposed to sexual assault and pushed to sexual exploitation in the region" said the Attorney Gazal Bayram Koluman, at the press conference in southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

The children killings have been going unpunished, said the press statement, stressing "six among people killed amid protests in the region, against the Islamic State’s massacre in Syrian town of Kobane."

"We would like to remind hundreds of children have been arrested, facing heavy punishments. Since early 2015, the number of these killings have reached, unfortunately, some 34 children, after having got shot, stepped on landmine, got killed by bombings, got hit by aircrafts and got trapped over armed vehicle" told Koluman.

The Bar’s Children’s Rights Center in Diyarbakır urged authorities to assure an atmosphere of peace and pay regard to rights of children. The investigations involving these violations against children’s rights should be carried out, transparently, said the statement.
