Prosecutor being accused as accomplice

Public prosecutor Ertac giray accused of hiding Banker Bako

       The lawsuit against Ertac Giray, the former Head prosecutor of Sariyer, Istanbul began yesterday. Giray is accused of involvement with Baki Cengiz Aygun, a.k.a. Banker Bako.
       Giray confessed that he had received Baki Cengiz Aygun in his house, but claimed that he had not known that there had been a warrant out for his arrest.
       Giray said that a relative of his had asked him to act as mediator to help him get a loan from Aygun, and claimed this was the reason Aygun had vsisted him.
       "He only stayed for about ten minutes, he did not actually enter through the door," Giray was quoted as saying.
       The court read out the defence statement of Aygun, stating that he had stayed overnight at Giray's house but had left when the police came.
       "I have been informed that Aygun gave this statement while under pressure," said Giray in defence.
