Ramazan Yavuz Diyarbakir
The so called presidential council of the PKK threatened Diyarbakir
guilds to protest Abdullah Ocalan's capture in February 1999 by keeping
their shops closed for a day.
It
has been one year today since the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan captured in
Kenya on February 15 1999 and brought to Imrali prison island. The PKK
wanted to protest the capture of their leaders by making the guilds close
their shops, as it had done for some other reasons in the previous years.
Although the terrorist organisation had announced that it quitted armed
struggle, MED - TV made a call the other day to close shops and not to go
out until noon.
Although it was noticing some shops in Baglar and Sehitlik neighbourhoods
were closed, all were open towards the noon.
On the possibility of any demostration in Diyarbakir the security forces
took tight measures in various places in the city.
