The inflationary fire slowly extinguishes

       The annual inflation rate which was 101.6% at the beginning of the year skidded to 93.6% in April. The inflation is reported to be displaying in a dawnwards trend with a 8 - point fall over the last four months. Monthly inflation on the other hand was reduced in terms of both wholesale goods and consumer prices.
       State Statistics Institute (DIE) announced that wholesale goods and consumer prices increased in April by 4% and 4.7% respectively, up from the previous month.
       According to the DIE report, by April figures, the last annual inflation rates for wholesale products was fixed as 83.3%, while it was announced as 93.6% in consumer prices. Last year, the annual inflation for the same period was 77.2% for consumer prices and 72.8% for wholesale goods. According to the figures, the annual inflation was calculated as 16.4% and 10.5% above the last year's consumer prices and wholesale goods respectively.
       The data says in the first four months wholesale goods increased by 20.5% as consumer prices rose by 22.2%. Meanwhile the 12 - month average annual inflation rates were calculated as 85.4% for wholesale and 92.6% for consumer prices, by the April figures.
