The minister on target: Eyup Asık

       State Minister Eyup Asik has become the target of the opponent parties, as he has admitted the telephone call with Alaattin Cakici. Mr. Asik doesn't give any answer to the claims and the speculations continue about the identity of the other minister.
       The Virtue Party, DYP and CHP made a call to the Prime Minister Mesut Yılmaz to declare the identity of the other minister and demanded the resignations of the related ministers.
       Assistant to CHP General Secretary Esref Erdem called Eyup Asik to resign and wandet the second minister to be declared yesterday in a press conference.
       Mr. Erdem compared the MIT ( National Intelligence Department) and the Security Department to feudal administrations and said "What kind of a connection can there be between a minister and a gangster wanted for 12 years?"
       On the other hand the leader of the Virtue Party Recai Kutan stated that the claims revealed after Cakici has been captured, points out the relation between this event and the Susurluk scandal. Mr. Kutan said "We hope a more serious manner than the one taken against the Susurluk case, will be taken. Especially the claim that the two ministers have made a phone call to Alaattin Cakici is interesting. The Prime Minister should explain this to the public. The audio records and the phone numbers should be investigated immediately and declared to the public as soon as possible."
