       The victims of the 17 August earthquake still try to live in tents. Not even a pair of dry socks is left in the tent cities which were hit by snow and rain.
       Today is the 104th day after the earthquake that destroyed the whole city of Adapazari. All the roads are full of tents. The lights are on in the houses as a measure against the burglars. There is not even a bathroom in the section that the tents are laid. All of Adapazari people are without socks in such a cold weather. It is not easy to dry a sock that get wet. Hundreds wait for a peace of meal in long queues for three times everyday.
       The tents are almost 2 - sq metres but the population is high. Six people lie in a double bed. It is not easy to stand the cold.
       All of the houses in Adapazari are empty. People, who are scared of a new earthquake lives in their summer tents on the streets. Only some lights are on as a measure against burglars.
       The quake victims became ill as they could not enter their houses and have a bath. There is an increase in Hepatitis - B. Most of the people living in the tent cities are unemployed.
       The government on Sunday offered nearly 32,000 places in boarding schools throughout the country for children left homeless by the quake.
       "All our students who suffered a quake will be saved from their cold tents and be given warm education,'' Education Minister Metin Bostancioglu was quoted as saying.
       Tens of thousands of people are living in rain-soaked tents or makeshift huts, while temperatures have fallen below freezing and snow hit the area this week.
       Authorities say they are unable to find enough winter tents and have made an appeal for foreign aid.
       Two tents burned down Saturday after two children inadvertently sparked a fire while playing with candles..
       Bostancioglu said Sunday that schooling and housing in primary and secondary schools for 31,904 students would be free for needy families. The government has also been transferring quake victims to summer camps in southern Turkey by bus.
