Turkey to pay 1 million euros to CHP

The European Court of Human Rights(ECHR) has ruled on Tuesday that Turkey to pay 1 million euros to the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) for pecuniary damages over the violation of the principle of freedom of assembly.

The European court concluded that Turkish authorities in 2007-2009 violated the party's right to freedom of assembly and holding activities and ordered Turkey was to pay the applicant party 1,085,800 euros in respect of pecuniary damage and 5,000 euros for costs and expenses.
