Turkish President meets Hamas leader

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met the Hamas leader Khaled Mashal on June 24, and Turkish Prime Minister met him on June 25. It was reported that the leaders discussed how to ease the humanitarian problems of the Palestinians.

Turkey has close ties with Hamas recently and they are expected to announce a deal to normalise their ties. Turkey wants Israel to fulfil three conditions; an apology for the Mavi Marmara raid that killed 10 Turkish citizens, compensation to the families of the deceased and an end to the embargo on Gaza.
