We wont bargain with anyone

" We are against any legal arrangement that seems to be a bargain for the 312th article of the Civil Code and the similar articles in the Constitution." said Mesut Yilmaz.

General Chairman of the Motherland Party (ANAP), Mesut Yilmaz, announced that they were not against amending the 101st article of the Constitution which is about Presidential elections and the 69th and 86th articles. Mr.Yilmaz announced that they have discussed Bulent Ecevit's suggestion of amending the 69th and the 86th articles of the Constitution, during the leaders' summit and announced that they have decided to support this motion. Emphasizing that they will not be making any bargains with other political parties about the Constitutional amendment, Mr.Yilmaz said, " We are against any legal arrangement that seems to be a bargain for the 312th article of the Civil Code and the similar articles in the Constitution."

We won't have a negative stance

Yilmaz pointed out that he has always been supportive of a Constitutional amendment that allows the President to be elected twice for five years and added that he would not force his deputies to vote in one way or the other. " We will not have a negative approach about the changes Bulent Ecevit suggests to make in the Constitution. Besides I believe that the 83rd article of the Constitution that is about limiting the immunities of deputies, also needs to be changed." said Mesut Yilmaz.

Demirel for three more years
