Bahceli calms down: Let's not clog the way for Turkey

       After the harsh statements he made the other day about the execution of Abdullah Ocalan, Deputy Prime Minister and MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahceli used a softer style yesterday. " The important thing is the problems Turkey will be faced with depending on whether this monster is executed or not. We should consider these possible problems. We should not act in a manner that will clog the way for Turkey." said Devlet Bahceli. Stating that he will be articulating his views on Ocalan's execution at the leaders summit on January 12th, Bahceli said, " MHP should avoid being emotional. They should not approach the issue with emotions of revenge or anger. Turkey's policy on this issue should be more concerned with the long term future. I also feel that it is wrong to evaluate the issue of death penalty concentrating on only one person. This monster, who has created a blood bath in our country, who wasted the country's economic sources and who killed thousands of people, has been sentenced to death penalty by the independant judicial institutions. What we have been saying since the beginning of this process is that the decision of our courts should be respected. However as we are doing this, we want to avoid concentrating on executing one person. Politicians, intellectuals and non-governmental organizations should all state their views on the problems Turkey may have to face, if Ocalan is executed. We should all avoid an action that will clog Turkey's path." Mr.Bahceli also added that the differences in opinion about the issue of Ocalan's execution would not effect the coalition.
