New era in MHP

752 out of 1,187 delegates held the congress upon a court decision. The party administration claimed that 495 delegates signed in which meant the convention was invalid. The dissidents stated that they would attend the emergency convention set for July 10.

Thirteen party bylaws were amended

Dissidents’ main aim was to change the article disallowing leadership changes through extraordinary conventions. A total of 13 party bylaws were amended at the convention. Party leader Devlet Bahceli said that under no circumstances should anyone pay attention to dissidents’ congress.
