Red Dany, the well known name of the '68 movement in Europe, explained
his meeting with Bahceli: He is very smart. He told me that the Ocalan issue
could not be brought to the Parliament before 2-3 years.
Chairman of the European Parliament- Turkish Parliament Commission,
Daniel Cohn Bendit met with
Devlet Bahceli in Ankara. MHP Leader Bahceli and
Bendit discussed the execution of the death penalty decision for Ocalan.
Bendit, who is known as "Red Dany" since he was the socialist leader of the
1968 movement in Europe, stated he thought Bahceli was very smart. Here is
what Bendit said about his meeting with Devlet Bahceli:
" He
has said two things about the execution. First of all the Parliament
has not approved the execution of any death penalties in the past 15 years.
The second thing is that the Turkish people have understood that the death
penalty decision did not fit with the European values. However he still
added that he would vote in favor of carrying out Ocalan's execution.
Bahceli said this issue would not come to the Parliament before 2-3 years."
