Net profits of the companies traded at the stock exchange climbed to 801.7 trillion liras, up 8.5% in real terms last year

The total net profit of the companies which are traded at the stock exchange reached 801.7 trillion liras with a 116% increase last year. The total net profit of the companies was announced as 370.9 trillion.
The total net profit - without consumer price index - increased 8.5% in reel terms. With 89.8 trillion Turkish liras Akbank was the leading business that had the highest net profit among the companies that declared balance sheets while the Kristal Kola posted the highest profit increase with 504 times the original. Kutahya Porselen which increased its profit 58 times ranked the first in terms of profit increase followed by Banvit who posted 30, Mensa Mensucat with 25, Olmuksa 22, Milliyet Gazetecilik 14 times.
When the 1997 inflation rate is considered, only 130 of the 198 profit increasing companies posted real profit increase. While the net profit of the 32 companies decreased in 1996, 3 businesses managed to shift from loss to profit. Tupras was the most losing company again last year and it announced a 29 trillion loss.
